A voice inside our heads constantly reminds us that we are capable of being so much more than we are putting forth effort for. That is why each year, we make a long list of new year’s resolutions, which most of the time ends up staying only in our phone and laptop drafts. We rarely try to figure out why this happens. According to my personal research, the reason behind our inability to achieve change in life is our naive approach on how to do it.

6 Practical Steps To Implement Right Now That Will Transform Your Life

When you want to change the look of your living room, simply changing the curtains will not make a noticeable difference. You must consider the carpet, seating arrangement and, of course, the decor. Similarly, if you want to make a difference in your life and become a better version of yourself, you must begin by changing the most fundamental aspects of your life.

Here’s a step-by-step guide, on how to practically bring a change in your life, that actually works!

1. Get In-Touch with Your True Self and What You Desire in Life

We see ourselves through the eyes of others. We want to achieve the kind of success that those around us consider a true achievement. Essentially, we live our lives according to a pre-programmed life curriculum imposed on us by society.

It’s not bad as long as you are getting where you want to go, but most of us fail miserably and consider ourselves failures due to that.

Get off the train! It is not getting you where you want to go.

Get in touch with your inner self and rediscover yourself, this time through your own eyes. You are unique and there’s only one of you. You must be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. You must consider what your heart and soul long for. What do you see as a better version of yourself when you close your eyes? What is your definition of happiness that is not influenced by the need to please society and others?

Once you have a rough sketch of your true identity and desires in mind, you must believe that this person is capable of making all the changes in life because the outcome of everything in life is affected by whether or not you believe in yourself.

2. Declutter Your Plate to Make Room for Actual Goals

One of the main reasons you can’t change your life is that you are swamped with work, doing things that are of secondary or no importance. Reset your lens and redirect your energy toward the goals that will lead you to a better version of yourself. You are probably wondering how to reset your lens. Dispose of all the extraneous things in your life that are robbing you of your time and energy.

All those extra pages you have liked on your Instagram, influencers who provide you with no useful information at all, and clutter of things in your room that you haven’t used for ages, it’s time to get rid of it all.

It is time to create a safe distance from people who harm your positive energy, undermine your belief in yourself, and distract you from your focus.

Most importantly, eliminate the self-doubt and negative self-talk that has taken up residence in your mind.

3. Increase Your Exposure to Things That Will Help You Grow

Travel often. Going places provide you with wisdom in form of experiences. You never return home the same person you were before you went on a journey.

Instead of staying in touch with others through social media, increase one-on-one interaction.

When you don’t feel inspired, read. Books transport you to places you might not otherwise be able to visit. Reading helps you stay motivated when you are running low on energy. Get out of your comfort zone and experiment with new things. This will allow you to discover those hidden talents in you that you are unaware of.

Watch documentaries and biographies to gain a new perspective on things and life.

4. Take Your Body Out of Its Comfort Zone and Introduce It to New Skills & Experiences

You cannot achieve healthy life changes solely through the use of your mind. Your body and mind must be on the same page.

Allow yourself to be open to all types of body experiences such as Yoga, meditation, exercise, swimming, dancing, and so on. Find what works best for you and make it a part of your routine.

Learn new hobbies instead of just sticking to the ones you already have. You will not want to return to your previous level of comfort once you have gotten your body into the habit of being active.

5. Maintain A Realistic Mindset as You Move Forward

Don’t exhaust yourself over a few days just to give up quickly. It is crucial to remember, that all good things take time. You will find your foot slipping now and then, as you climb this mountain of change. When this happens, you must come to a halt and wait until you regain your footing for the next step. The trick here is to remind yourself time and again that you are not merely completing a task but rather going through a journey of change to become a happier and better version of yourself.

6. Self-love and Care are Your Fuel for Bringing The Changes You Desire In Life

love yourself

While going through all the changes, keep checking in with yourself. Observe how the change in habits and activities affects your mental and physical health. Keep an eye on your energy tank and don’t overwork yourself if you find yourself in need of a break. Observe how happy and calm you are as the change progresses. Keep a journal to record these changes and your reactions to them. It will assist you in keeping a track of your efforts and their outcomes.

Conclusion

Best wishes for the wonderful change in your life that you are about to embark on!
